Today there are reasons to celebrate, because in the CCJ the new Electoral Code was approved, regarding which I have several reservations, but it must be said that a great deal was at stake.

What we set down in this amendment is the maintenance of the current rule for the most serious crimes.

Anyone convicted, for example, of drug trafficking, of participating in a criminal organization, or of committing crimes against the public administration, among them corruption and embezzlement, will be ineligible for a period of eight years after the completion of the sentence.

In a way, the police activities were cut short, were paralyzed, because the matter was no longer pursued, and even people, high-ranking INSS officials who had been appointed by the Lula government, remain free, unpunished and without any news of arrest or even of less drastic measures, such as the filing of criminal charges against them.

Now, with an independent chair and rapporteur not controlled by the Government, the CPMI has the conditions to investigate these facts and gives us hope that justice will finally be done.
