Thank you, President. What a joy to have been selected to have 15 minutes and to be able to set out the issues in the plenary session, not having to speak hurriedly, rushed, scrambling to organize my thoughts at the last minute.
I could not begin my speech this afternoon without mentioning the important, historic, and exemplary trial currently taking place at the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal).

We waited, for years, crying out every day for justice for Marielle Franco and Anderson, until their perpetrators were duly convicted.
Today, Brazil, democracy, defenders of human rights, Black women, the favela kids, LGBTQIA+ people, those who believe in Justice, receive this decision of the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal) with joy.
We do not have the joy of having the comrade among us, doing, acting, building politics and defending a project of a plural Brazil, a project of a diverse Brazil, a project of Brazil that does not tolerate the execution of a woman for being who she is, for representing who she is.
However, there is joy in seeing that, at least, those who thought they would go unpunished for bringing down a body were mistaken, for the execution of Marielle Franco and Anderson is not just the execution of a woman, but also the execution of a project.
By toppling that woman's body, they expected that we who are similar to her, who believe in the Brazil she defended, who confront the powerful and their structures of power with our heads held high, would be intimidated, would cower, would back down, retreat and give up on the project of country defended by comrade Marielle Franco.
They were mistaken, for they shot at a project and forgot that it was a seed.
From that seed many, many fruits have emerged.

They are brave, they are courageous, they have kept Marielle Franco's memory, legacy, work and contribution alive, even in the face of a pain that is impossible to measure.
It is impossible to measure the pain of a daughter, the pain of a mother, of a father, of a sister who receives the news that a loved one, a family member, was executed in the way Marielle Franco was.
May this condemnation, the sentence handed down today by the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal), serve as solace!
I also send a hug to her partner, Councilwoman Monica Benicio, who was here in Brasília.
She was likewise a tireless fighter in search of justice, in search of answers, so that the executors and the masterminds behind this barbaric execution would be discovered.
