Rodrigo Pacheco: Mr. President Davi Alcolumbre, I would like to express to Your Excellency my solidarity, a solidarity that arises from the institutional obligation we have to stand together in critical moments when the President of our House finds himself unjustly implicated, but also from the human solidarity of someone who knows you and knows that an event of this nature, a report of this magnitude, strikes not only your status as a Senator of the Republic, President of the Senate, President of the National Congress, but clearly affects your human, family and personal dimension, and your relationships.
Rodrigo Pacheco: Therefore, at the outset, I state what is most important in these remarks of mine, which is my very sincere solidarity with Your Excellency in light of this matter and its content, but, listening to your speech, I identify a singularity in this episode that truly deserves, as Your Excellency says, emphasis and concern.
If there is an allegation by a cooperator, in the context of a plea bargain or cooperation agreement, made through his lawyers to the competent authorities, it will be for Your Excellency to defend yourself against an allegation that may be made, through the available legal means, seeking to demonstrate your innocence with respect to that alleged fact and the reason for the inclusion of a non‑existent fact in the scope of a plea agreement.
Rodrigo Pacheco: This is a reality that presents itself and is, in a certain way, commonplace in the legal world, where there is an allegation rebutted by someone who is accused, justly or not, truthfully or not.
Rodrigo Pacheco: Now, on the other hand, if we are possibly facing an alleged fact in a widely circulated magazine that does not exist within the scope of an official process, that was not alleged by the cooperator or by his lawyer, that was not alleged by the authorities responsible for the investigative process, whether the police or the Public Ministry, that does not exist in the legal world nor in the real world; that is an invented fact and was taken to a mass‑circulation press so that the whole of Brazil could hear this untrue, fabricated fact, then, in this second hypothesis, President Davi Alcolumbre, we are facing a very serious matter that even exceeds the affront to the figure of Senator Davi Alcolumbre.
