Erika Hilton: We feel inspired, even though it is still painful, because we are speaking of something that does not repair the violence that was committed, but it is an important step.
Erika Hilton: We called out, we sought, we demanded that there be an answer, and today we are seeing the outcome of this case.
We hope that this case serves so that no other case like this is repeated in Brazil, because, as long as there are executions like that of Marielle Franco, while Brazil continues to hold the record for murders and violence against the LGBTQIA+ population, while an effective security model is not ensured in the Black and poor neighborhoods of this Brazil, there will be no democracy, there will be no sovereignty, there will be nothing.
Erika Hilton: What exists is a simulation of that. It is for her and for all of us that we will continue here fighting, struggling, demanding and believing that a better and greater Brazil than this petty Brazil, which cowardly and cruelly murders an elected Councilwoman, is possible.
Erika Hilton: And it is only possible because it is built by the hands of those who suffer and endure the pain of this unequal, barbaric, cruel, intolerant and prejudiced Brazil.
