Perhaps many of you have never heard these names, but they were all daughters, some were mothers, very dear and beloved people.
There were people waiting for them to come back home, but they did not return.
Priscila was returning from a worship service when she was murdered.
Sara Mariano was a singer and a pastor. She was murdered by her own husband.
Francisca Claudeni was taking part in a moment of prayer when she was stabbed to death.
Marisa was murdered inside a church. Larissa was found dead on the altar.
Ivanilda lost her life along with her son.
Karen was murdered inside her home. Her daughter, only 1 year old, was found trying to nurse at her mother's breast, not understanding that she was no longer there.
When a woman is murdered, it's not only her who dies; an entire family dies.
It's a birthday that will never be celebrated again.
It's a child who will grow up without a mother; a mother who buries her own daughter.
These women are not statistics; they are lives cut short.
There is a statistic I discovered today that struck me deeply.

A survey showed us that 43% of evangelical women have already suffered domestic violence — but that survey does not stop there.

It shows that when these women decide to ask for help — and many have — many of them do not first go to the police station, nor to a lawyer, nor to 180.

Fifty-three percent sought the church first, because they look for someone they trust, someone who will welcome them, someone who will listen to them, someone who will say: 'You are not alone'.
This does speak to the strength of faith and religious communities for millions of Brazilian women.

It also raises a question for all of us: why do these women not feel safe to turn to the State?

It's our fault, it's also the fault of this Congress, because the State needs to ensure that every Brazilian woman finds, when filing a complaint, support and protection, and that she knows she will not be alone.
I speak here of evangelical women, of Catholic women, of Spiritist families, of families that do not profess any religion.
The aggressor does not ask whom that woman voted for, he does not ask what her religion is, he does not ask whether that woman is progressive, whether she is conservative, or whether she considers herself a feminist.
He only understands that he has the right to take her life.
Again, he doesn't want to know whom she voted for, nor what she thinks.

I hope that, when looking at the 'misogyny' bill, we know this: we are here to fight for all women — our mothers, our sisters, our friends, the wives of many of you.
Unfortunately, religion, ideological orientation, and whom they voted for President of the Republic do not matter, because none of that protects any of them.
But these women voted for us who are here today.

And if we keep avoiding, postponing, delaying the vote on the bill that criminalizes hatred against women, it is these women to whom we are turning our backs.

President, to conclude. In 10 years perhaps many of us will not remember the votes, the positions, the battles, the fights and discussions, but I am sure that every time one of us opens the news and sees that another woman has been raped, another woman has been assaulted, another woman has been threatened, each one will remember how they positioned themselves on the PL of Misogyny.

May we vote next week honoring the agreement that was made and stop postponing.
Elections are important, social media is very important, but the lives of these women matter far more.

And every week we go by without shame, without giving a response to this, is one more woman threatened, one more young person radicalized, one more guilt that remains with us.
I repeat: we will all remember how we positioned ourselves on this issue.
