Of course.
When I was in high school, I had a scholarship to a very good private school.
My teachers knew I came from a very poor family, that I worked hard, but that was it.
And then at a certain point, when I was nearing my second-to-last year, my father started using crack, which is a drug that... consumes a person very quickly.
And then, well, everything was a lot of struggle, a lot of sacrifice.
But from that point on, there was no way.
There wasn't money for snacks, there wasn't money for transportation, there wasn't any motivation to keep going.
So I started getting discouraged, but without explaining to my teachers what was happening.
And then there's always that teacher who sees you, right?
That I, I don't know, was number 45 on the attendance list, Tabata.
But for him, no—he didn't let it go.
I was discouraged.
What many people would think is that this is what gives an opportunity to someone who comes from where she comes from.
He didn't rest until I explained to him what was happening.
And when he understood, seeing everything my father and I were going through, the level of having no money we were at, that I was going to school hungry, that I had no way, he mobilized a group of teachers to basically take financial responsibility for me.
So I wouldn't give up, they sought psychological support for me.
Which was something I didn't even know existed and that was fundamental.
