I greet my dear friend President Rodrigo Pacheco.
All my admiration, affection and respect for his career.
I also greet Senator Omar Aziz, on whom I have been able to count several times on very important issues.
Thank you very much. I greet all those who are here representing UOL, so I don't forget anyone: Maria Judith, Paulo, Murilo, but also the dear Carla, Carol, Alexandre Gimenez and Josias.
It is a pleasure to be here with you. And, through them, I greet everyone present here.
I would like to share a few brief words, perhaps repeating a bit of what President Pacheco has already said, but to acknowledge the importance not only of UOL's history and trajectory, but also of everything you will have to face and do in the coming years, which, God willing, will be many.
We are very happy to be here to congratulate those of you who make UOL happen.

As has already been said, UOL was born from a very visionary, very original proposal, which I would like to summarize as follows: beyond receiving information, Brazilians — women and men — already wanted, 30 years ago, to produce, comment, converse, to be part of the news.

The audience needed to have a voice, and you were among the first to recognize that.
It has been 30 years in an industry in which you do not survive unless you constantly reinvent yourself and, as President Pacheco put so well, reinvent yourself all the time; to me, that is what UOL does best.
In 1996, no one had a cellphone with internet. In 2006, no one had a smartphone.
In 2016, we did not imagine the scale that WhatsApp would have in our public life.
And now, in 2026, we only know how to talk about AI, which shows how much the world is changing ever faster.

And UOL, as I have already said, not only went through these many transformations and revolutions, but was always at the forefront, doing independent, plural journalism, at scale, with its own technology, and we must acknowledge how much Brazilians have been innovating in the tech sector and also, obviously, with credibility, with respect for Brazilians — a group that assumed the public commitment to democratize access to information.

The role of PagBank, the role of UOL EdTech and the role, once again, of bringing information in a democratized way so that everyone would have access has already been mentioned here.

But it is also up to me to speak a little about this difficult context, not only what Brazilian journalism is going through, but what our democracy is going through, because I know this is a topic very dear to you as well.

As our President Pacheco has already said, we have algorithms that reward indignation, anger and hatred above information, and this is a debate we cannot be afraid to face.

We have foreign platforms that concentrate distribution and capture the advertising revenue produced in Brazil, and these platforms will always be very welcome in our country, but it is very important that we never give up Brazilian sovereignty.

And when we export our data without any questioning and import these technologies also without any questioning, without any debate, we do give up, yes, part of our sovereignty.
One point I always make is that, increasingly, our lives take place in the digital environment.

We were talking earlier here at coffee: it is where we relate, it is where we consume, it is where we decide what we like, acquire new tastes, and we need to understand that these rules have already been established — the rules of coexistence, for example, within a platform — but, up until now, they were defined outside our country, they were not defined by Brazilians.

So this is a very important debate so that Brazilians can continue to define how, once again, Brazilians will live from now on and, as has also been said, how false content spreads much faster than true content.

I have already had the opportunity to speak with many who are here and I take the opportunity to greet Senator Randolfe, who is here with us as well, and to say how much serious, independent journalism, which truly takes responsibility for its sources and for the facts it presents, is part of the infrastructure of democracy.

Just as when we talk about public schools, a public health system, or security that works, journalism is fundamental so that democracy can become increasingly solid in our country and less questioned, less attacked.

Our world will change ever more quickly from now on.

We often feel that there is no ground under our feet, but it is in those moments that our Brazil comes together, that we show our resilience, that we show our capacity to innovate and, once again, that Brazilians have every condition and the right to decide about our daily lives, to decide about our future.
