Tabata Amaral: I have already had the opportunity to speak with many who are here and I take the opportunity to greet Senator Randolfe, who is here with us as well, and to say how much serious, independent journalism, which truly takes responsibility for its sources and for the facts it presents, is part of the infrastructure of democracy.
Tabata Amaral: Just as when we talk about public schools, a public health system, or security that works, journalism is fundamental so that democracy can become increasingly solid in our country and less questioned, less attacked.
And without reliable information, democracy functions only halfway.
Tabata Amaral: So that is why I say: congratulations, thank you very much, stay strong and do much more.
