My guest today is a professor at the Federal University of Maranhão, where he graduated in Law.
He completed his master's degree at the Federal University of Pernambuco.
He was a federal judge before entering a political career.
He was elected federal deputy and, more recently, governor of Maranhão, with 63% of the valid votes.
He became the first member of the PCdoB to govern a state of the federation since the split with the PCB in 1962.

I wanted you to talk a little about the economy, the market itself, the private economy of Maranhão.
What is the frontier of possible expansion?
What can you tell me about the port of Itaqui, which today has the highest volume of goods in the country?

We already have an established vocation regarding food production.

The other established vocation is to be a logistical hub for the country's northern arc, by the happy combination of a port complex with a public port under state management and two private ports and a third private port under construction, which leads to the scenario of handling, very soon, 300 million tons per year, therefore the largest port throughput in Brazil, considering the sum of the Port of Vale and Alcoa.

With the port that is under construction as another public port, we will have this exponential movement of cargoes of various types, various origins and natures, notably grains, bulk cargo, liquids, fuels, but also a variety of products, minerals, fertilizers, and manufactured goods.
