Sérgio Moro: And here I also refer to a fact that caught my attention in recent days, which was also highlighted across the country: the imposition of a 14-year prison sentence on a businessman in Santa Catarina who made a Pix of R$500 in favor of a bus company that transported some of those January 8 protesters to Brasília.
Sérgio Moro: In that ruling it was assessed that this Pix represented financing of those actions that sought a coup d'état, the carrying out of a coup d'état.
And there are outright inferences; there are true leaps in argumentation.
Sérgio Moro: First, on January 8, did those people really intend to carry out a coup d'état, or did they go too far and commit acts of disorder and vandalism that should have been punished from that perspective?
Sérgio Moro: On the other hand, even if those people did intend, in fact, to promote an attempted coup, did that businessman have the same intent when he made that deposit?
