Sérgio Moro: And the population, then, and I as well kept imagining what it might have been like if those buildings at that moment had contained children: the death toll would have been much higher.
Sérgio Moro: Of course six deaths are already a tragedy in themselves, but within this scene of destruction the perception that, given the scale of the disaster, the number of victims could have been higher — and was not — is a positive aspect to be noted, in addition to all the dedication of volunteers helping the town and also of public agents: we saw there the dedication of the Paraná military firefighters, the city's Civil Defense, health agents, public security agents, with the most diverse responsibilities, all already working on that reconstruction.
I went there, visited the town, and I must say I was very impressed with Mayor Sezar, the town's mayor, a man experienced in public life who was walking about vigorously, over the rubble, speaking with residents to seek support and also to provide them with the means to carry out that reconstruction.
Sérgio Moro: On that occasion, I informed them and decided to direct part of my parliamentary amendments toward the city's reconstruction effort.
Sérgio Moro: I set aside approximately R$6 million to be allocated specifically to health and to rebuilding the town's infrastructure.
