Sérgio Moro: Good afternoon to everyone, Senators. I want to note here the importance of the opposition having been able to appoint independent Parliamentarians to the positions of Chair and Rapporteur of the CPMI (Parliamentary Inquiry Commission) of the INSS.
Sérgio Moro: The country witnessed, roughly 120 days ago, the frightening revelations about this large and new criminal scandal of the Lula government.
It is true that there are records that fraudulent deductions had already occurred previously, but there was an exponential growth of this fraud.
Sérgio Moro: Furthermore, well-founded suspicions arose that bribes had been paid to senior INSS officials appointed during the Lula administration: the former President of the INSS, the former Attorney General of the INSS and likewise the former General Coordinator of Benefits.
Sérgio Moro: We saw these events explode into the news about 120 days ago.
