Is treating criminals like 'poor little victims' an insult to the honest, hard-working favela resident?
I've said this before, but I'll say it again, loud and clear.
Yes, it is an insult.
It's an insult to say they're a victim, to excuse them, to treat them like a poor little thing.
And many people were surprised by those polls in recent weeks showing that people who live in the favela, who live in peripheral communities, often accept police brutality.
because they can't take it anymore.
So to me it's not surprising that a favela resident would say, 'I'm against the death penalty.'
I think that, aside from a case where there's a confrontation, you can't just go there and execute someone.

Why does a resident of the periphery, of the community, support a police operation even when it's extremely violent?
Because he's desperate, because he can't take it anymore.
