   At 75 years old, Marcelly Malta passed away this past weekend. President of the organization Igualdade RS and vice-president of Rede Trans Brasil, Marcelly was a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community, was on the front line in the fight for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, was a true humanitarian, a political leader, a mobilizer of the grassroots and one of our greatest. Marcelly survived persecution under the dictatorship, prejudice, discrimination, and transphobia, and remained, unshaken, in the struggle. Marcelly Malta reached 75 having built paths so that more people like us can reach old age alive. To Marcelly: rest, my deepest gratitude, and my commitment to keep her memory alive. To her loved ones, those affected by her passing, and her comrades in the struggle, you have all my solidarity.
