Let's take the party issue. You're in Brazil today, you're creating—when I say 'you', I mean the MBL, obviously—you're creating a party that is omission. Why?
Because today there is no party that represents what we believe in. In fact, most parties don't believe in anything. I'll use my party União as an example. We have 59 deputies in our caucus.

Most are pro-government deputies who vote with the Lula government. In fact, until recently we even had ministers in Lula's government from União Brasil. So, what is the program? What unites these people in terms of a vision for the country? Nothing. Most parties are a collection of people who are there to form a ticket and contest the election. But they have no programmatic, ideological coherence. So we need to found a party precisely in order to have a project. I, for example, wanted to have been the candidate for the São Paulo mayoralty in the last election.
I couldn't; I even polled at 10%, I couldn't because my party preferred to form an alliance with the mayor instead of having its own candidacy.

A party should want to come to power to implement its project. But most parties in Brazil, in reality, want to align with those in power.
to perpetuate themselves in their offices. But not because they have a worldview that makes them want to reach a mayoralty, a state government, or a presidency to implement that vision. No, they want to align with a winning candidate, or a more likely winner, so that once in power they can have a piece of the budget and keep their mandates there indefinitely.
So that's why we needed to have our own party to decide our own candidacies, even within the proportional system.
Whoever votes for me, if my votes exceed the electoral quotient, that vote goes to another person in the party. So now, with the new party, I'll have the assurance that that vote will be going to someone who is aligned with my values, who is aligned with my ideals.
