How are you seeing this?
First, with great sadness at seeing this tragedy, at seeing how many lives were lost — police officers included, people who had nothing to do with that operation — but also seeing, as Wanderson has already pointed out, the lack of capacity of politics on both sides to provide a response to this.
On the one hand, when we look at the right and even the far right, we see a discourse that goes viral.
That if you kill everyone, you solve the public security problem.
It's wrong.
It doesn't work.
It goes against my values as a Christian, as a human being, and it doesn't work.
Why?
Because the State comes in, kills everyone, and leaves.
And the people who live there have to keep living with the violence, with the criminal, with everything we know happens in a community, in a periphery.
But when we look to the other side, we also don't find the answer.
When we look to the left, or to the center, or wherever, what is the public security policy?
There is a very mistaken view in Brasília today that this subject is so thorny that it's better not to talk about it.
That it's better to pretend it's not happening.
Shall we talk about positive agendas for Brazil?
Let's do it!
But what answer are we going to give to those people who are terrorized by organized crime?
Who can't stand being robbed anymore?
Who are tired?
If we disagree that the solution is to kill everyone, what solution do we put in its place?
And then, while we have this... It's not even a fight, right?
Because one side is losing by forfeit.
While we have this absence of solutions, the left is losing by forfeit.
The right also doesn't know what it's doing.
Just look at what's happening in Brazil.
You know what they're doing it for, right?
To win votes.
To win votes, exactly.
But not to protect the population.
And meanwhile, who is winning?
Organized crime, increasingly sophisticated.
