Who is Renan Santos?
You must be asking yourself that now, because Renan Santos showed up in a poll for the presidency with 2%, alongside a party that isn't even ready.
Renan Santos, who in practice is me, is the founder of a party called Missão, a feat that many considered impossible.
And many people are curious: how can a young man, a leader of a right-wing group that is not Bolsonarist, have managed to set up the party and appear out of nowhere in the polls, when almost nobody knows him?
Renan Santos was born in São Paulo on February 14, 1984; by the way, memorize that number 14 — tip.
He lived in a working-class neighborhood, in Moca, the son of a lawyer and a psychologist.
From an early age he was an excellent student at school and was also, curiously, very interested in Formula 1, Japanese cartoons and politics.
Renan was a shy boy, relatively studious, but who got good grades.
On that basis, he managed to get into the most difficult law school in Brazil, the law school at USP.
There, he developed a taste for politics, the desire to change the reality around him and to create groups.
Yes, even back then, at around 20 years old, Renan founded his first political party.
And a curiosity: he organized somewhat strange events, to the point of bringing Henri Cristo — yes, that's what you're seeing — Henri Cristo to the university to give a lecture.
It was at that time that Renan was even betrayed by his colleagues from the party he founded at university — just look how cruel politics is.
He dropped out of university and went to work with his father and a group of businessmen.
Rebuilding companies that were going bankrupt, at the moment when the Lula government was saying that Brazil was doing wonderfully.
Even today many look into legal cases involving the companies we were running at the time — cases that weren't ours and originated with their former partners, who had gone bankrupt.
We would revive the company, save people's jobs and try to keep that dream alive.
Some worked out, some didn't, but that's precisely a risky, very hard-working profession that taught this guy a lot and made him someone with a great ability to deal with pressure.
Dealing with pressure from unions, dealing with pressure from the press and even the moral pressure of being able, at the end of the month, to get the resources to pay the suppliers' wages.
But then Dilma's government arrived and what had been the dream of Brazil taking off under Lula became a nightmare.
The new economic model failed, Brazilian companies went under, including the metallurgical firms with which Renan worked, which began to perform poorly.
Not only did jobs begin to disappear, people left the factories for the streets and Brazil was swept by the large protests of 2013.
And guess where this guy was?
At that same time, at 29 years old, this same Renan discovered a very hidden and very bad side of this country called Brazil.
Police extortion.
Police tried to plant drugs in his father's company precisely to incriminate him and to bribe him.
The point is that Renan at that moment said no.
He put a stop to it and, putting his own life at risk and even the lives of his relatives, he resolved to make a decision that few make.
To go after the criminal police.
Renan not only took part in an operation together with the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) and Police Internal Affairs, but he arrested the corrupt officers, ripped off their service IDs and decided to change his life once and for all.
He would now no longer dedicate himself to companies, but to a very strange mission: to make this country — very ungrateful to all of us — a slightly better place to live.
At that same time, this Renan, who is me, received a medal, an award from the MPF (Federal Public Ministry), because of his cooperation during that period.
Which also sets the tone for a strange partnership that would come in the following years.
Renan founded a movement called Movimento Brasil Livre, together with some of his best friends.
This movement initiated the largest demonstrations in Brazil's history.
At the same time... and, curiously, the MPF was running an operation called Lava Jato.

Well, the streets calling for Dilma's impeachment and defending the fight against corruption merged with the work of the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) in a gigantic operation that changed Brazil's destiny.
