We are pleased to welcome Romeu Zema here.

Welcome, Romeu.
Pleasure, Renato, to be here together with Samer and Renato.
It's a great pleasure to be here again at Brasil Paralelo, which has made such a difference for Brazilians.
Desconhecido
Wonderful.

I'd like to note that we extend an invitation to all the pre-candidates who are appearing in the polls.
Desconhecido
So we've already had Ronaldo Caiado, and today Governor Zema.
Desconhecido
We hope the other candidates can also take part here with us.

Governor, I'd like to begin with the following.
Desconhecido
Governor... A very prominent feature is that you came from the private sector, are a very successful businessman, took over a public apparatus with a very big challenge, inherited a complicated legacy in the state of Minas Gerais, but there is a lot of controversy regarding the fiscal and economic situation of the state of Minas.
Desconhecido
We see that the debt increased considerably; on the other hand, you managed to get salaries paid on time.
Desconhecido
What is the situation in Minas that you left for the people of Minas?
Renato?
Opposition intrigue.
I'll make it very clear, and I always carry the little notebook of Minas' debt that I'll give you at the end.
If someone eight years ago owed the equivalent of ten months' salary and today owes the equivalent of seven months' salary, has that person's situation improved or worsened?
Improved.
Do you agree?
And what they say is that the situation in Minas got worse.
- Neutral
About: control and reduce public debt
The debt in nominal terms rose, but proportionally it is much smaller than it was when I took office.
The State's payment capacity is much greater.
- For
About: avoid contracting new state-level loans and financing
And I didn't incur a single real of debt.
Everything that the State of Minas owes today was debt created prior to my tenure.
The only documents I didn't sign during my entire time as governor were loans and financing agreements, also because Minas still doesn't have a credit rating.
Another important fact.
- For
About: grant three-year debt forgiveness and cut interest on that debt to 0%
Minas' debt grew and grows because of the extortionate interest rates that the Union charges.
It caused the State to practically go bankrupt.
- For
About: ensure timely payroll payments and transfers to municipalities
And today the State has all its commitments fully up to date.
Payroll, the remunerative amounts due upon termination of employment contracts—something that wasn't happening.
One of the things that moved me most as governor was that one day while walking down the street, an elderly woman stopped me and said, "I want to thank you."
I had been waiting nine years for my bonus vacation.
I was a teacher and I wasn't getting it.
I received it two months ago.
Do you understand?
- For
About: pay off accumulated state liabilities
We paid a backlog of liabilities that had been held up, which nobody mentions.
Just that: 29 billion in liabilities that mayors and public employees were not receiving.
