So it's a pleasure to be here in São José and to start by talking about Fernanda?
Because on the way here I was thinking: one of the characteristics I value most in life now, within Movimento Brasil Livre, which for the most part overlaps with my life, is loyalty.
And Fernanda was someone who was always loyal to the movement, always loyal to her values.
Fernanda ran in the last elections, including against a historic traitor that we have here in the city.
She lost the elections, but unlike many who joined Movimento Brasil Livre, who initially chose the harder path thinking it would be easier than they imagined,
and lost the elections and then chose the easy route of hitching a ride on Bolsonaro's coattails.
to get elected without doing any work — she didn't do that.
She stayed loyal in the hard moment, in the low moment.
So, the first thing I need to say while I'm in São José is about that loyalty, about her firmness of character, which I have no doubt will bear fruit in the future.
We have one of the movement's greatest examples, Amanda Vitorazzo, who lost the municipal election, then lost the state election and won now, and today is one of the movement's most nationally known influential figures.
And no one within the movement has any doubt about her loyalty, because in the toughest moments we went through, in the two defeats she faced, she kept her head held high.
And similarly, Fernanda — I have no doubt she will follow the same path.
So that's the first point I have to make.
And the other point is that we, this year, despite it being a difficult year — it's an election year, and especially those who run get very stressed, sleep little, face many lawsuits, sometimes take some hits on the street — but it's a year that, despite being difficult, despite our challenge of putting together slates of federal deputies in 27 states, state deputies in 26 states and district deputies in one federative unit, and without access to the party fund and with an electoral fund 100 times smaller than the biggest parties and without access to television time,
So, our first challenge is attracting candidates.
Our first challenge is to ask, well... why would I run for office with you?
And my first joy is knowing that we already have more than a thousand people who registered saying, 'I want to run for office.'
Even under these conditions, even knowing that in another party I'd have money, even knowing that in another party I'd have television time, I don't believe in doing politics in any other party and that's why I want to be with you.
So, despite it being a very difficult year, this year has every chance to be our most victorious year.
This year has every chance to be our... our most glorious year, because the biggest blows in public opinion, the biggest moments of unpopularity, the biggest moments of wear are behind us.
The moment when petismo thought it would destroy us, after Dilma's impeachment, has passed.
The moment when bolsonarismo thought it would destroy us — how many times haven't I heard it.
'Ah, now that you're criticizing Bolsonaro, you won't even get elected as a condo manager.'
I've never seen a condo manager get 300,000 votes.
So, we've been through the toughest moments together.
We know who the most loyal people are, and we know many more people are coming closer, knowing that our path is the harder one, because don't be surprised to know that the political class looks at Movimento Brasil Livre, looks at those who run in Movimento Brasil Livre, looks at those who lose in Movimento Brasil Livre and does the math.
And if so many people are joining our project, knowing the risk of defeat and the competitive disadvantage we have, it's because we have something more powerful than most parties.
