Many people, sometimes, have no idea what a place like this means.
Only those who suffer, or who have someone in the family who suffers and needs attention because of a psychological disorder, a mental disorder, or an addiction that... will impact their life, will know the importance of a space like this.
For a long time, society looked at emotional and psychological problems as if they were, ah, just being dramatic, just nonsense.
It was treated with indifference, without the necessary attention.
This kind of problem — depression, panic disorder and other things — can happen in any family, any household.
It doesn't choose poor families, rich families, families of religion A or religion B. It doesn't.
And I can say that because I faced this in my own home.
I went through a bout of depression that affects the whole family.
But I had a daughter who went through a delicate case of depression.
And I think almost everyone is like that.
When it starts, it's not something that happens all at once.
It's a situation that... gradually evolves, and it reaches a point where you don't know what to do, how to act, how to respond to be able to face it.
Sometimes you get to the point, especially when it's your child, where you say, 'look, I wish I could take it on myself so she would be well.'
So, I know the importance of a place like this.
I know the importance... of the professionals who are here.
Because treatment, the protocol, will not always be directed solely at the person who is the focus of that care.
Especially in the case of a child, sometimes that approach will involve the family.
And in my case, it involved the family, because it was a case, I repeat, very delicate.
So, congratulations on what you are doing here, and on the care you are providing.
Just to say... I shared what I suffered at home; today my daughter is well, she has recovered, she's very happy, she's in another phase now, she's even dating and my concerns now are different.
