Tabata Amaral: We need to listen to those mothers who are desperate because they are tired; because they are alone; because they are facing depression; because they are still in the hospital; because they are dealing with an illness; because they still cannot manage to do it on their own; and because they should not have to do it alone.
Tabata Amaral: I want to ask you to cast a vote for the children who have not yet been born, for those who deserve to have the father, in the first days, to build a bond; a vote for the fathers who have no idea how they are going to learn to do this, who are terrified, who are also insecure, and who, often, are aggressive because they do not know how to deal with that feeling.
Vote, not looking at how you did it, at how you were treated, but vote for these families, so that they can have a little more time, space to get used to it, to cope with these changes, to invest in their families.
Tabata Amaral: I could have listed all the data showing this will be better for women's mental health, that it will be better for men's mental health, that it will be more profitable for companies, that the mother will be able to return more easily, that the family will be stronger against crime, against drugs, against everything the world will put out there.
Tabata Amaral: However, today is no longer about data, it is not about financial impact, but about a choice that each and every one will have to make when recording their vote, whether to give this vote of confidence to Brazilian families, to the children, to early childhood, whether to give this vote for women or whether to be guided by what you have seen so far and by your prejudices.
