Sérgio Moro: Mr. President, I just wanted to pay my respects here as well to the Director-General of the Civil Police, Ruy Fontes, who was brutally and cowardly murdered yesterday, it appears, by organized crime, possibly in retaliation by the PCC.
He was Director-General of the Civil Police in 2019, when we carried out the transfer of PCC leaders, more than 20 PCC leaders who were in a state prison in São Paulo, at risk of escape; we transferred them to maximum-security federal prisons and cut off communications by changing the manner of visitation: it became only by parlatório, with glass separators, by telephone, and with a prison officer monitoring.
Sérgio Moro: He took part in the development of that operation. He was a man of courage, who already had a long record of dedication and an extremely robust history in combating organized crime.
Sérgio Moro: And when we see organized crime that dares to murder a former Director-General of the Civil Police, even knowing that there will be consequences for that act, that is very serious.
