Sérgio Moro: And, of course, such an impediment can only occur if it is concluded that the criminal prosecution has political motivations or, possibly, that due process or the rights, in some way, of the accused have been violated.
Sérgio Moro: So perhaps we can have great progress stemming from the obstruction carried out last week, from the verification of these cases of abuses and excesses committed by the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal).
The clearest example here are the precautionary measures that were arbitrarily imposed on our colleague, Senator Marcos do Val.
Sérgio Moro: There is no justification for that extremely harsh treatment, whether one agrees or not with Senator Do Val's words or manner of speaking, all the more so to justify the imposition of an electronic ankle monitor and, in practice, house arrest during nighttime hours or on weekends.
Sérgio Moro: So these abuses are happening, and these abuses must be repelled.
