Sérgio Moro: In the CPI (Parliamentary Inquiry Commission) on Organized Crime, of which I am a member, we decreed the lifting of the fiscal and banking secrecy of the company Maridt, because of that company's links with Banco Master, with the basic purpose of ascertaining the facts, either to exonerate those responsible for the company or to deepen those investigations.
Sérgio Moro: No one can be above the law. And the CPI on Organized Crime did this because, within Banco Master, there are also relationships and suspicious transactions linked to organized crime, to the PCC, as was widely reported by the press.
We know, of course, that the Federal Police conducts its investigation, but the CPI (Parliamentary Inquiry Commission) has a special role, because of its visibility and the power it has, to pursue that investigation.
Sérgio Moro: And it has the competence to do so. If there is a link to organized crime and there are indications that need to be investigated, that measure is justified.
Sérgio Moro: However, Senator Plínio Valério, last week, over the weekend, there came an interlocutory decision from the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal), by Minister Gilmar Mendes, preventing, suspending the breaking of banking and fiscal secrecy legitimately decreed by the CPI on Organized Crime.
