Sérgio Moro: There is no justification for that extremely harsh treatment, whether one agrees or not with Senator Do Val's words or manner of speaking, all the more so to justify the imposition of an electronic ankle monitor and, in practice, house arrest during nighttime hours or on weekends.
Sérgio Moro: So these abuses are happening, and these abuses must be repelled.
Perhaps they may have the positive side effect of allowing us to finally approve the end of the privileged forum, which would be a civilizational advance.
Sérgio Moro: Everything that moves in the direction of more equal treatment between political agents and citizens in general we must see as positive, and the end of the privileged forum is a powerful remedy — perhaps not sufficient — to generate a more harmonious and healthier relationship here among the Powers of our Republic.
Sérgio Moro: We will monitor the developments of these events in the Chamber of Deputies and hope that time does not erase these initiatives, that these initiatives are not buried by any accommodation, because if we set this aside, later they will return and will return stronger and with even worse consequences.
