Sérgio Moro: Law enforcement agents who retire today do not have clear legal coverage or the right to have some protection should they find themselves in a situation of risk.
Sérgio Moro: We recently had that tragic, cowardly murder of the former Chief Delegate of the Civil Police of São Paulo, Ruy Fontes.
He was retired; he was a professional who distinguished himself in combating the PCC, in investigating the PCC during his career and, unfortunately, he was cowardly murdered, perhaps by the PCC itself, in retaliation.
Sérgio Moro: The facts are still under investigation. But, from the videos we saw and the information we have, the most likely scenario is that it was indeed an attack by a criminal organization such as the PCC.
Sérgio Moro: Today there is no legal provision to grant protection to law enforcement agents who are already inactive and find themselves at risk.
