Romeu Zema: I consider myself an entrepreneur, I did have help from my father who lent me some capital, but in 30 years I opened 470 stores, the company is still running, generating more than 5,000 direct jobs in a sector where, unfortunately, the vast majority of companies are disappearing in Brazil.
Romeu Zema: I went into politics out of indignation, out of displeasure with the PT, with Fernando Pimentel of the PT, who destroyed my state, Minas Gerais.
I took over a broken, bankrupt, ruined state that paid salaries and pensions in three installments and... Five months ago I handed over a tidy state to my successor, with the accounts in order; what was a graveyard of abandoned, unfinished works is today a large construction site under way.
