Rodrigo Pacheco: Now, on the other hand, if we are possibly facing an alleged fact in a widely circulated magazine that does not exist within the scope of an official process, that was not alleged by the cooperator or by his lawyer, that was not alleged by the authorities responsible for the investigative process, whether the police or the Public Ministry, that does not exist in the legal world nor in the real world; that is an invented fact and was taken to a mass‑circulation press so that the whole of Brazil could hear this untrue, fabricated fact, then, in this second hypothesis, President Davi Alcolumbre, we are facing a very serious matter that even exceeds the affront to the figure of Senator Davi Alcolumbre.
Rodrigo Pacheco: That constitutes an offense, a coercion, a constraint, an attempt to criminalize a head of a branch of government, a President of the Senate, who, for some reason, is being coerced by means that I dare to call mafioso – mafioso – of gangsterism, by someone who invents a fact and who constrains an entire institution, constrains the figure of a Senator and also constrains the very apparatus of justice, because it potentially constrains whoever is negotiating a plea agreement in which that fact simply was not stated.
So, at this moment, it is incumbent upon Your Excellency, in addition to here affirming the absolute lack of basis of this fact that Your Excellency says never existed, to, from your position as President of the Senate, urge the competent and responsible authorities to respond officially whether there is any information, official or unofficial, regarding the content that was published by the magazine over the weekend.
Rodrigo Pacheco: And if the response is, in fact, negative — that this fact never existed — then it is necessary to open a specific procedure to ascertain the circumstances of this, because someone creates a fact, uses a credible press; may use public institutions to coerce, blackmail and incriminate a head of a branch of government.
Rodrigo Pacheco: Because if Your Excellency is going through this today, tomorrow any Senator of the Republic or parliamentarian could be going through the same episode; any head of a branch of government, a President of the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal) or a President of the Republic, likewise.
