Erika Hilton: The LGBTQIA+ community also cries, and cries because of a National Congress that does not legislate for this population; cries before a National Congress that watches in silence the brutal and recurring deaths of the LGBTQIA+ community, a reality to which this population, of which I am part, is subjected daily in this country.
We cry for the death of this young man and of so many other Brazilian youths who die simply for being who they are and, often, because of actions that Parliamentarians take in this House, at this podium.
Erika Hilton: Once, a Parliamentarian put a wig on his head to ridicule and mock trans people who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Erika Hilton: The mockery, the irony, the disregard, the contempt, the hate speech practiced by Parliamentarians inside this House are directly responsible for the deaths of young people, adults, children and of our community.
