The candidate Alexandre Calil, of the PDT, was scheduled to be interviewed last Monday, but he could not attend because, after six months on the waiting list, he was called... for a cornea transplant, which explained his absence.
Desconhecido
Of course, it was justifiable; we made room for him to come today.
Desconhecido
Alexandre Calil is from Belo Horizonte, an engineer; he ran the family company, which specialized in road, urban, civil and industrial infrastructure.
Desconhecido
He led Atlético Mineiro, was the club's president for six years, and served as mayor of Belo Horizonte twice.

The candidate will have only 30 minutes to answer my questions, plus one minute for his final remarks.
Desconhecido
And the clock starts now.
Desconhecido
First of all... It couldn't be otherwise.
Desconhecido
How was the surgery?
Desconhecido
How is your recovery going?
Desconhecido
Thank God, right?
Desconhecido
Science helped me, God helped me, and everything went well.
Desconhecido
Quick surgery?
Desconhecido
Simple, right?
Desconhecido
Simple, given the nature of a cornea transplant.
Desconhecido
It was a transplant, but it was very successful, thank God.
Desconhecido
Good recovery.
Desconhecido
Yes. That's good.
Desconhecido
There's no way we can start without talking about health, right?
Desconhecido
You yourself said you lived through the wait for a transplant, the agony that many people also face, right?
Desconhecido
That waiting is difficult.
Desconhecido
Is it possible to solve common day-to-day health problems, the difficulty in carrying out elective surgeries, many people who live in the countryside have to come to Belo Horizonte or cities in the metropolitan area.
Desconhecido
What is your proposal for the health sector, candidate?
About: improve management of regional hospitals
Look, the first thing we have to do is see how the regional hospitals are going to operate, right?
- Against
About: manage regional hospitals through federal universities
Because the Divinópolis hospital seems to have been taken over by the Federal University of São João Del Rey, which I don't think is the ideal model, especially since they're taking a lot of money from federal colleges and universities.
About: implement a tripartite management model in hospitals
But I think the tripartite system, negotiated in Brasília, as we opened here, because we did, we opened a hospital of more than 500 beds in Barreiro in seven, eight months.
But we went to Brasília to try to get that.
So I think I'm still in favor of the tripartite [system]; I believe it's about the doctors.
It's the nurses; that's what runs a hospital.
Because you don't create a hospital (just by building it).
If someone has a heart attack in there, it's the same thing.
I have a heart attack in the hospital that's in teoflotone.
Because there's nothing there, no doctors, no staff.
So we are about people.
That's what we did here in Belo Horizonte.
About: strengthen primary care and early diagnosis in SUS
We built a health post and we didn't just promise; we were there.
